Burnaby Village Museum is a historical attraction that is located in Burnaby, British Columbia. The museum is home to an old-fashioned ice cream parlor, carousel, and many historic buildings. It is a family-friendly attraction that offers a variety of free activities for visitors.

The Burnaby Village Museum is made up of numerous historic buildings that were built during the early 20th century. These structures are set up like an open air museum, making it possible for visitors to see how people lived a century ago.

This museum is also working on reconciliation efforts, as it acknowledges the presence of indigenous peoples in its community. They are a vital part of the history of this area. At the Burnaby Village Museum, there is a space dedicated to learning about these indigenous peoples, who lived in long-term settlements near Deer Lake and the Brunette River. In addition, the museum hires Indigenous educators to share their knowledge of the Coast Salish culture.

Located at 6501 Deer Lake Avenue, Burnaby, British Columbia, the Burnaby Museum is a 10-acre site filled with over 50,000 artefacts. Visitors can visit the museum on Tuesday through Sunday and on statutory holidays. A limited number of parking spaces are available on the street or in the back of the museum.

In the summer, the museum is open 11 am to 4:30 pm, and the admission is free. There is also a carousel, which is available for unlimited rides. If you’re looking for some entertainment, you can visit the Central Park Theatre, which features silent movies from the 1920s.

Visitors can also attend a scavenger hunt, which is a fun activity for young children. Some of the other activities at the museum include a Chinese medicine shop, a restored interurban tram car, a one-room schoolhouse, a blacksmith’s shop, a church, and a farmhouse. Each of these buildings is also wheelchair accessible.

Visitors can also participate in various events held at the Burnaby Heritage Museum. Those who want to learn more about the past will be interested in the Working People Documentary, which will take visitors through the lives of the people who came to this area in the early years.

You can also take in a carousel ride, as the museum offers a 110-year-old carousel. Depending on the season, admission to the Carousel Heritage Village is $2.65.

One of the most interesting things about the museum is its focus on indigenous history. In addition to the working carousel, there is a space dedicated to learning how the Coast Salish people lived. The walls of the space are painted with silhouettes of animals and words in local First Nations languages. Throughout the museum, you can find WiFi, which is available throughout the grounds.

The museum is currently working on an exhibit about South Asian heritage, as well as an exhibition about Chinese Canadians in Burnaby. Several other projects are also being developed, including an exhibit on Aboriginal and indigenous histories.
